This Time Last Year
Clean your camera roll one day at a time, fully on-device
Made by a tiny two-person studio. This Time Last Year shows you the photos you took on this date across all your past years, so you clear the blurry shots, screenshots, and burst duplicates a little at a time instead of facing your whole camera roll at once. It flags the junk for you (advisory only, it never deletes anything on its own), runs entirely on your phone with no account and nothing uploaded, and works on iPhone 8 and up. One-time $2.99, no subscription.
Hi PH! We're a two-person studio and this is the app we most wanted to exist.
It started as a homemade Shortcut one of us ran every morning to clean the camera roll a few photos at a time, by pulling up the same date across past years. It kept breaking, so we rebuilt it as a real app.
What we cared about getting right:
- It flags the junk for you. Blurry shots, screenshots, and burst duplicates get badged so they're easy to spot. It's strictly advisory: it never marks or deletes anything on its own.
- Fully on-device. PhotoKit only, nothing leaves your phone, no account, no server.
- Runs on iPhone 8 and up (iOS 16.4+), not just the newest phones. A lot of apps in this space require iOS 26 and lock most people out.
- One-time $2.99. No subscription.
The nice surprise is you end up enjoying the old photos while you clean. Happy to answer anything about the build or the approach.
