What inspired me: I’ve always hated the feeling of landing in a new city and being overwhelmed by endless lists of “must-see” places that are mostly tourist traps. I wanted something that felt like having a knowledgeable local friend in my pocket, someone who just points you to the ~75 places that are actually worth your time. The problem I was trying to solve: Most city guides are either too generic, require constant internet, or drown you in thousands of listings. Travelers (especially those who want to go offline or avoid data roaming) needed a clean, curated, fully offline experience that still felt personal and useful. How the approach evolved: It started as a single Lisbon guide. Once I saw how people used it, I realized the same “pocket local” formula could work for many cities. So I built a shared Flutter foundation and started rolling out one dedicated app per city (LA, New York, Paris, Rome, Barcelona…). Along the way I added audio tours narrated by Theo (our little mascot), offline maps, multi-language support, and easy ticket links — always keeping the focus on simplicity and no clutter. Would love to hear what you look for in a city guide, or which city you’d like us to tackle next! Thanks for checking us out João (and Theo)
