The Digital Campfire
Four strangers. A crackling fire. Anonymous retro chat.
Welcome back to the old web. Before the internet was fenced off and optimised for revenue, it was a vast, quiet wilderness. This is an ephemeral, 4-person chat room designed for those nostalgic for the early decades of the internet. No accounts, no video, and no tracking. Messages turn to ash the moment you close the tab. URLs and phone numbers are blocked to keep the space pure. Grab a log, sit by the pixel fire, and talk to a stranger.
Hey Product Hunt,
I built this because I am tired of every square foot of the modern internet being optimised for monetisation and algorithms. I missed the late-90s "Wild West" web, where you could stumble into a dark, cozy corner of the internet, meet a stranger, and just talk.
The Digital Campfire is a nostalgic nod to those earlier decades. It’s a 100% anonymous space hard-capped at 4 people per fire to keep conversations intimate, just like the old IRC days. There is no database, your words vanish into the ether when you leave.
It was built using free AI credits, a love for pixel art, and a desire for raw human connection. Pull up a bench, listen to the wood crackle, and let me know what you think. The fire is fed by your good vibes (and a tiny, completely optional Stripe link if you want to buy a digital log for the server).
See you in the woods,
lx
