A couple of years ago I was trying to figure out my education loan for UK studies. Spent weeks going back and forth between bank websites, comparison platforms, YouTube videos, CA advice — and still felt like I didn't fully understand what I was signing up for. Nobody told me the total amount I'd repay over the tenure. Nobody explained the Section 80E deduction only applies if you're on the old tax regime. Nobody showed me what happens to my EMI if rates go up by 2% next year. Then a year later, same problem again with a home loan. Different loan, same frustration. The existing platforms — you know the ones — are useful for applying but they earn a commission from lenders. Which means they're not really neutral. They show you EMI because it sounds manageable. They push you towards higher loan amounts. They don't explain why the insurance the bank is selling you is actually optional per RBI guidelines. I couldn't find one place that just... explained everything clearly, with no agenda, for all loan types in one place. So I built it. It's called The Credit Compass — www.thecreditcompass.in
