TerrainIQ: Outdoor GPS & Trail
How much harder is today’s hike, run or ride?
TerrainIQ is a free Android activity tracker that turns live weather, air quality and terrain into one number: how much harder today really is. You get an effort-adjusted pace, a spoken AI briefing before you start, live slope and elevation, and safety alerts.
Hi Product Hunt! I’m Sandra, and I built TerrainIQ on my own.
Some days my usual runs or walk felt way harder and my tracker just showed a slower pace with no explanation. So I built an app that explains it. On my last hike it said conditions were +21% harder: +6% from heat and +14% from a 5% grade. My 25:00/mi pace was worth about 31:09/mi on a perfect day.
What it does:
• Effort-adjusted pace from heat, humidity, wind, air quality and slope
• A short AI briefing, read aloud, when you start
• Live slope graph and elevation gain ahead
• Heat, allergen and severe-weather alerts
• Keeps tracking with your screen locked
• No account, and your activity history stays on your phone
It’s Android only for now. Pause/Resume is next on my list and more to come. I’d love to know what would make it more useful for your hikes, runs or rides!
