TaskChef gives Codex desktop one master conversation to delegate work across projects and a dashboard for parallel tasks. Find what needs your input, return to the original chat, track usage, and choose models by role. Free and open source.
I built TaskChef because working across several Codex projects meant constantly choosing projects, finding the right chat, and remembering which tasks needed me.
Now I drop a GitHub issue or a rough idea into one master conversation. TaskChef routes it to the right project and creates a separate Codex task. The dashboard shows what is working, finished, or waiting for input, and opens the original chat when I want to continue.
TaskChef was built partly with GPT-6 Astra in Codex. Astra helped me build it faster. The goal was to make the everyday work around capable coding agents easier to organize, while keeping separate task contexts and the native Codex workflow.
Inspired by Firstmate, with a workflow integrated into Codex desktop. Less time managing tasks. More time moving them forward.
