Tab Lifeboat
Tab backups that survive the browser
Automatic snapshots of every window, tab group and tab, plus a backup file outside the browser profile. Restore any moment in a few clicks. For Chrome and Edge, no account, no servers. Pro: one-time price, encrypted backups to your own cloud or NAS.
Hi Product Hunt! I built Tab Lifeboat because browsers lose tabs in boring ways: a crash, a bad update, a profile that gets wiped or a reinstall. The awkward part is that most session managers keep their saved sessions inside the same browser profile, so they go down with it.
Tab Lifeboat is a backup, not a tab organizer:
- within a minute of every change it snapshots all windows, tab groups and tabs
- every hour it writes a backup file to your Downloads folder, outside the profile
- restore everything, one window, one group (name and color included) or a single tab
- after a crash, a half-restored session never replaces your last good snapshot
Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi. No account, no servers of ours, no analytics. The free version keeps the last 7 days. Pro is a one-time purchase (no subscription): your whole history, search across it, and end-to-end encrypted backups to your own Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or NAS / Nextcloud (WebDAV), with restore on any computer.
I'd love to hear how you lost tabs last time, and what would make you trust a backup tool.
