Time tracking that turns your hours into paid invoices
Free time tracker for freelancers who bill by the hour. Track each client, send a weekly work receipt they approve, and turn it into an invoice they pay by bank transfer or card. Polite overdue reminders. Works from Claude and ChatGPT too.
Hey Product Hunt! I'm Brady, a designer who has billed by the hour for most of my career.
The first UX project I ever worked on was a time tracker. tab is the one I always wanted: a clock that doesn't stop at tracking.
How it works: - Track. Every client gets a tab. One tap starts the clock and the meter shows what that client owes, live. Forgot to start it? Type "2h figma northwind yesterday". - Prove. Once a week your client gets a work receipt: what you did, with links to the real work (Figma, GitHub, Loom, docs). They tap "Looks right". No screenshots or activity tracking, ever. - Get paid. Close the tab and the approved hours become an invoice. Your client pays by bank transfer or card, straight into your own Stripe. If it's late, tab can send polite reminders for you. - Fixed price too. Set a price, bill it in parts, and see what it really paid per hour. If it ran under your rate, tab tells you before it renews and drafts the new price. - Grow. tab spots good clients who've gone quiet and drafts a short check-in you send from your own email. - Ask your AI. New this week: connect tab to Claude or ChatGPT and just say "log 2 hours to Northwind yesterday".
It's free. tab only takes a small cut of money your clients pay online through it, and nothing on your first $2,000 a month. Paid by check? Always free.
It's a brand new public beta, so I'd love your honest feedback: what's confusing, what's missing, what would make you switch from what you use now. I'll be here all day answering.
