Synaptive

Map the books, films & podcasts that shaped your thinking

Synaptive lets you build visual knowledge graphs from the content you consume. Add books, movies, podcasts, articles — search real APIs or add manually. Write a personal note about what each piece gave you, then draw connections between them. The result is a map of your mind that no algorithm could create. Share your graph publicly and discover how others connected the same content differently.

Hey everyone 👋 I'm Alperen, the maker of Synaptive. I built this because I kept noticing connections between things I consumed — I'd read Sapiens, then watch Inception, and realize both were exploring how shared stories shape reality. But there was nowhere to capture that insight. Goodreads is for books. Letterboxd is for films. Spotify is for music. None of them let you draw a line between a book and a documentary and say "these are connected because..." That's what Synaptive does. You add content, write a short personal note (not a review — a reflection), and connect pieces across any medium. The most interesting part: when you share your graph publicly, others who added the same content can see your connections — and you can see theirs. You end up discovering perspectives you never considered. Built with Next.js 14, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, React Flow, and deployed on DigitalOcean. It's a PWA so it works as a standalone app on mobile too. Would love your feedback — especially on the graph interaction and the "personal note" concept. Try it at synaptive.app and let me know what connections you make!
