SwarmAgent
Run multi-agent AI coding swarms on a $5 VPS
Take projects from 0 to 1 without burning cash on heavy cloud frameworks. Swarm runs multi-agent AI coding swarms in Go directly on your laptop or a $5 VPS—orchestrating Coder, Finder, and Designer agents for sub-10¢ per deliverable at ~15 MiB RAM.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Swarm team here.
Most multi-agent coding frameworks today have a dirty secret: to run even a basic agent loop, they demand 16GB of RAM, massive Docker containers, dozens of brittle Python packages, and a cloud bill that makes your wallet weep—often burning $10+ in API calls just to deliver broken code or merge conflicts.
We asked a simple question: Can you build real software from 0 to 1 with an autonomous multi-agent swarm running on a humble $5/month, 1-vCPU VPS or a modest laptop?
To make that possible, we built Swarm from scratch in Go.
Here is what is happening under the hood:
⚡ Extreme Resource Efficiency: The daemon idles at just ~15 MiB of RAM. Even during parallel agent bursts, CPU stays under 50% on a 1-core machine. No Docker overhead, no Python dependency hell.
🔀 Isolated Git Worktrees: No agents stepping on each other's toes. Swarm coordinates specialized system agents (Coder, Finder, Designer) running simultaneously across isolated worktree checkouts, then safely integrates the results.
📉 Sub-10¢ Deliverables: By engineering disciplined prompt compilation and structured checkpoint handoffs, benchmark execution costs plummeted from $1.45 down to $0.06 per deliverable—a 96% reduction.
🔒 100% Local-First & Private: State is persisted to an embedded Pebble KV store on your own machine. Your source code, API keys, and session history stay strictly local.
🖥️ Terminal UI + React Desktop: Run it headlessly over SSH on a remote server with our rich TUI, or launch the React Desktop workspace locally.
Swarm is 100% open source. You can grab the single-binary install and explore the code at https://swarmagent.dev.
We’d love to get the discussion rolling:
What’s the biggest blocker you face with current AI coding agents (speed, cost, context degradation, or system resource hogging)?
If you had a swarm of autonomous coders running 24/7 on a $5 box, what’s the first 0 to 1 project you’d set them loose on?
Drop your thoughts, critiques, or feature wishlists below—we’ll be here all day hanging out in the thread and answering every technical question! 🚀

Who hunted SwarmAgent?
SwarmAgent was hunted by Swarm Agent. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
