SurgeHiit
The HIIT timer that runs the workout for you
Eight ready-to-go HIIT workouts or build your own in our drag-and-drop builder. Surge calls every interval out loud, syncs to Apple Watch with haptics and heart rate, saves workouts to Health — and never interrupts you. Free: two workouts + two custom. Premium: 14-day trial, then yearly or lifetime.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Surge HIIT because I got tired of fighting timers mid-workout. You're in the middle of a set, the interval ends, your eyes dart to the phone. You miss the audio cue. You tap the screen to skip to the next interval. It breaks the flow.
Surge does the work for you. You pick a workout (or build one), hit start, and just move. The app calls every interval — work, rest, get ready — in a natural voice. Spoken cues duck your music automatically so you hear them without thinking. Your Apple Watch syncs in real time: haptic taps on every interval change, live heart rate, active calories, automatic Activity ring closure when you finish. Leave the phone on the bench.
What's included:
Eight ready-to-go HIIT workouts — Tabata, EMOM, circuits, ladders, beginner to advanced. No setup needed.
Custom workout builder — drag-and-drop interface. Set work and rest to the second, name your exercises, pick a color theme. No limit to how many you build.
Full Apple Watch experience — every custom workout syncs to your wrist. Haptic taps on every interval. Real-time heart rate and calorie tracking. Your Activity rings close automatically.
Spoken interval cues — native voice quality (the iOS 17+ neural voices), no robotic TTS. Music ducking so you hear it over your playlist.
Nine color themes — hand-tuned for legibility in all light conditions. Including a neon Tron-inspired grid.
Apple Health integration — every session (workouts, active calories, heart rate) saves to Health so it lives where your other fitness data does.
100% offline. Zero ads. Zero nonsense. — no internet required, no account, no analytics SDKs, no tracking.
Free vs. Premium: Two built-in workouts and two custom workouts are yours forever, free.
Built with: Native SwiftUI from one codebase. Real iPhone + Apple Watch app — not a web wrapper, not a reduced Watch experience. Respects your time; never interrupts you mid-set with notifications or review prompts. (We ask for a review only after you've completed and saved multiple workouts — when you've actually earned an opinion worth sharing.)
Upfront caveat: This is a timer and a coach, not a trainer. You still have to do the work. Surge just makes sure you're not fighting the technology while you're doing it.
What I'd love feedback on: whether the custom builder is intuitive enough (it's brand new), whether the Watch experience feels complete, and whether we're missing any workout types you'd want built in. Ask me anything!
