Hi, Frederik here. I built Matrix together with Morten Fabrin, who spent years running delivery in a large engineering consulting firm. The reason it exists: in most consulting and engineering firms, project margin is something you find out after the project closes. Hours are logged, invoices go out, and the real result shows up months later in the accounts. By then nothing can be done about it. The root cause is usually the cost side. Most tools cost an hour at salary divided by nominal hours. That ignores employer tax, benefits, non-billable time and overhead. When you run the numbers properly, the true cost of a billable hour is often far higher than the figure firms plan with, and every margin built on the low number is wrong. So Matrix is built around three numbers, calculated live from timesheets and allocations rather than typed in: Fully loaded cost per hour, per person, derived from actual utilization Live project margin, updated every time an hour is logged Forecast at completion, so a job that is going underwater shows up while there is still time to act Around that sits the rest of what a delivery business needs: pipeline and quotes, resource planning with a utilization heat map, projects with phases and milestones, time and expenses, and reporting on one dataset. It also has an MCP server, so you can ask an AI assistant questions like "which projects are below their planned margin this month" and get answers straight from your own data.
