👋 Hi everyone! I’m José, the creator of GABRIEL'S WORK Text to Subtitles MP4.
I created this tool because, as a YouTube creator, I wanted a simple and fast way to turn plain text into subtitle-style MP4 videos without having to manually create and synchronize every subtitle.
You simply select a .txt file, choose the language of the text, and the application automatically calculates the reading time based on the text, punctuation, and line breaks. You can then adjust the overall reading speed by ±50% to better match your narration, voice-over, or target video duration.
The application includes an interactive Live Preview, so you can play, pause, reset, navigate through the timeline, and check the subtitle sequence before generating the final video.
Version 3.0 supports 76 languages and multiple writing systems, including Latin, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Indic scripts, Thai, Lao, Burmese, Hebrew, Georgian, Armenian, Amharic, and others. It also verifies the required Windows fonts before rendering to help prevent missing characters and incorrect text rendering.
You can generate videos in both 1920×1080 (16:9) and 1080×1920 (9:16), making the tool useful for standard YouTube videos as well as YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other vertical content.
One of the main new features in v3.0 is the ability to choose both the text color and the background color directly from the built-in color palette.
This makes the tool useful in two different ways.
For video editing: you can use the default green-screen background and import the generated MP4 into CapCut, Clipchamp, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or another video editor. The green background can then be removed using chroma key, leaving the subtitles as an overlay on your original video.
For text-only videos: you don't need another video at all. You can choose your own background and text colors and create a complete video where the text itself is the main content. This can be useful for reading-based videos, stories, articles, quotes, educational content, multilingual content, announcements, or any other content that can be presented through animated text.
Everything is processed locally on Windows. The compiled version does not require Python, and there is no cloud processing, subscription, watermark, or online rendering service.
I built this project as a practical tool for my own content creation, but I decided to make it available to others who might find the same workflow useful.
I’d really like to know: How would you use a tool like this? Are you more interested in creating subtitle overlays for existing videos, or using it to create complete text-based videos? 🚀
