Submerged Reading
Turn noisy webpages into calm, focused reading spaces
Submerged Reading is a Chrome extension that turns cluttered webpages into calm reading spaces without taking you away from the original page. Hide sidebars, images, ads, recommendations, or any element with one click. Adjust the reading width to fit your screen, keep the page’s original interactions, and browse with local-first privacy—no analytics SDK.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Submerged Reading because useful content is often surrounded by sidebars, recommendations, oversized images, and ads.
Traditional reader modes can remove the noise, but they also take you away from the original page. I wanted something quieter and less intrusive—something that keeps the page working while letting the content breathe.
Submerged Reading lets you:
• Hide sidebars, images, ads, and recommendations in one click
• Select and hide any page element
• Adjust the reading width to fit your screen
• Stay on the original page and keep its interactions
• Browse with local-first privacy and no analytics SDK
It’s free and open source.
I’d especially love feedback on which websites still feel distracting, what you would hide first, and where the extension could work better.
Thanks for taking a look,
Zane
