Hey everyone, my name is Ying and I'm Edinburgh based product designer/developer. One day I spotted an almost-new clothes drying rack left beside a bin and I needed one, so I picked it up and took it home and honestly, I was so happy with it. That got me wondering: every day, every year, how many useful things are being left beside bins and on the curb that still have plenty of life left in them? I wanted to explore a different way of thinking about these objects not as rubbish, but as things waiting to be discovered by someone who needs them. So I researched the problem, designed the product, built the iOS and Android apps, and experimented with content and community growth myself. I wanted to start small, so StreetJams is currently available in the UK, starting with Edinburgh. I'm still gathering feedback and figuring out what to build next, so I'm completely open to suggestions. If you've ever found something useful left on the street, I'd love to hear your story, or if you have an idea for StreetJams, let me know! 👋
