Hedge Funds can do pretty much whatever they want. Other than (1) having more than $100M in assets and (2) all investing parties a net worth of $1M plus, filing a 13F every quarter is the only requirement. Although the 13F data--a statement of all their current positions--is required and freely available from the SEC, the UI is a pain to use. Moreover, aggregating the information from multiple hedge funds is painful, or requires a paid subscription to WhaleWisdom or Dataroma. That's why I created StockFries.com! It pulls the most recent filings from the SEC's EDGAR database; connecting you with the ideas of world’s most expensive entities. I also included some blog information on how different hedge funds work and how their portfolios are put together for background. You can also download the raw data for your own projects.
