StitchFromPhoto
Turn any photo into a printable cross-stitch pattern
Turn any photo into a counted cross-stitch chart directly in your browser. Adjust stitch width, DMC palette size, and fabric count; compare the original, color, and symbol views; then export a high-resolution PNG and tiled printable PDF with a thread key and stitch totals. Your source image stays on your device, and no signup is required to create or preview a pattern.
Hi Product Hunt,
I built StitchFromPhoto around a practical gap in photo-to-cross-stitch converters: a pretty pixel preview is not enough. A stitcher also needs a manageable thread palette, readable symbols, accurate fabric dimensions, stitch totals, and printable pages.
The current version turns JPG, PNG, or WebP images into counted charts directly in the browser. You can adjust stitch width, DMC color count, and fabric count, then compare the source photo, color preview, and symbol view before exporting.
Privacy was a core design constraint. The source image is processed locally with the Canvas API and never sent to checkout. The server only receives a private, browser-scoped identifier to unlock export access for that image.
This is the first public version. I would especially value feedback on chart readability, palette controls, and which editing features would make the generated patterns easier to stitch.
Thanks for taking a look!
