I'm James, a solo indie developer from the UK, and today I'm launching Stellar: Night Sky Journal - something I've been building for the past several months.
The idea came from wanting a journaling app that didn't feel like a productivity tool. No streaks, no scores, no guilt. Just a quiet space to reflect.
Here's how it works:
1) Write a short entry — a line, a sentence, anything.
2) Pick a mood from six colours (joyful gold, calm blue, sad violet, frustrated orange, anxious green, reflective silver).
3) Watch a star appear in your personal night sky, lit up in the colour of how you felt.
Over weeks your sky fills in. At the end of each month, your stars form a constellation and move into a Galaxy view - a growing archive of every month you've written.
A few things I'm particularly proud of:
* The night sky shifts with the real time of day - dusk colours at sunset, deep midnight at 3am
* The month transition animation - your stars spiral into a comet that flies to the Galaxy tab
* Ambient music that plays softly while you write (Moonlit Drift - generated with Suno)
