Stashora: Floating Clipboard
Save what you copy, paste it back in one tap — in any app
Stop messaging yourself links, addresses and account numbers. Stashora is a clean floating clipboard manager: tap the handle on the edge of your screen, save what you copied, and paste it back in one tap — without leaving the app you're in. That's it. No switching apps, no hunting through old chats. Built with Material You: light and dark themes, a handle you can size, place and fade, and a panel that gets out of the way the moment you've copied. Stashora does one job and does it beautifully...
## The Problem
For years, I used WhatsApp as my clipboard.
Whenever I found a link worth keeping, I'd copy it, open my own chat, paste it, and send it to myself. When someone asked for my bank account number, I'd scroll through old chats, find it, and copy it back.
Everything I'd saved was scattered across self-chats. There was no proper way to organize it, and I could never find what I needed when I needed it.
When I talked to friends, I realized almost everyone did the same thing. Nobody questioned it because it was simply how things were done.
I tried clipboard manager apps. They technically worked, but many felt cluttered, looked outdated, and constantly pushed upgrades. Some even monitored the clipboard in the background.
I thought there had to be a better way.
## The Approach
I didn't want to invent a new habit. I wanted to give the one we already have a proper home.
So I built **Stashora** around three principles:
- **Stay in the app you're using.** A small handle sits at the edge of your screen. Pull it, and a panel slides over WhatsApp or your browser. Tap an item to copy it, and you're back to your conversation within seconds.
- **Private by design.** Stashora reads your clipboard only when you tap Save. There's no account, no ads, and your stash never leaves your phone.
- **Do one job well.** Calm, fast, and uncluttered, with nothing you didn't ask for.
## How It Evolved
Stashora started as a simple list of saved items.
The first feature that really mattered was **Quick Paste**, which lets you pin things you paste every day, like bank account numbers, addresses, and Wi-Fi passwords, right at the top.
Next came saving directly from the Android Share menu and text-selection menu, so you never have to message yourself again.
The floating panel took the most iterations. It started as a docked panel and evolved into an edge drawer you can pull open using a small handle. Later, I added a free-floating window that collapses into a small pill, allowing it to stay open while you work.
Real-world use led to more features: checklist folders for shopping lists, the ability to share an entire folder as a single message, and backups for moving to a new phone.
For pricing, I chose a free core experience with a one-time Pro unlock. No subscriptions, because a clipboard shouldn't charge you rent.
## What's Next
I'm considering images in your stash, fingerprint protection for sensitive pinned items, and optional sync through your own Google Drive.
I'd love to hear what you'd like to see next. If you've ever used WhatsApp as your personal clipboard, I'd especially love to know how you handle it today.
