SproutKid

A safe, parent-controlled AI companion for teens

An AI companion for teens 13–18: homework help, honest answers, and someone to talk to — with strong filters that block violence and adult content.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Marko from Switzerland, the maker of SproutKid — and I built it because of a problem I couldn't stop thinking about. AI has become part of how teenagers live: homework, curiosity, and more and more, just having someone to talk to. But almost every tool they can reach was built for adults, with safety bolted on afterward — if at all. The headlines over the past year made the risks impossible to ignore. I didn't want to hand a 14-year-old an unrestricted adult chatbot. But pretending AI would just go away wasn't realistic either. So I set out to build the third option: an AI companion designed for teens (13–18) from the ground up, and controlled by a parent. What I cared about most: • Every message is moderated, and signs of distress are taken seriously and point to real help. • A parent sets it up and stays in control. • No ads, and we never sell kids' data — it's a simple subscription, so the incentive is to be good for your teen, not to keep them glued to a screen. I'm a solo developer, and I'd genuinely love your feedback — especially from parents and anyone who's thought hard about kids and AI. What would make you trust (or not trust) a tool like this for a teenager in your life?
