SpaceShare

Spaces to share. Places to work. People to meet.

Remote work gave us flexibility, but it also gave us empty apartments and Slack messages that never quite replace human company. SpaceShare isn't just cheaper coworking, it's someone making coffee in the kitchen while you both work. We built the trust layer (verified hosts, gradual address reveal, women-only spaces) so opening your home doesn't feel risky. Think Airbnb, but the amenity is company, not the couch.

Hey Product Hunters! 👋

I'd like to to share my story which brought me to build SpaceShare!

I've been working remote for a while now, and honestly, it gets lonely sometimes. I live somewhere people don't really talk to their neighbours or try to make friends. Everyone's just busy with their own thing.

I thought about going back to an office. But I don't want to give up the flexibility, the healthy food I can make, the extra time with family that remote work gives me. I just wanted a way to keep that and still be around people once in a while, without having to commute far or pay a lot for a co-working space.

That's basically why I decided to build SpaceShare with my team. Instead of working alone at home, or paying for a co-working desk that doesn't help you build connections or make friends, you can host or join a co-working session at someone's home nearby. Same city, same remote-work struggle, real company for a few hours.

Trust mattered a lot to us here, since letting a stranger into your home isn't a small thing. So hosts are verified, addresses only unlock once a booking's accepted by the host, and there's a women-only option for sessions. We're also considering adding an optional video call request so the host and guest can feel more comfortable before they meet in-person.

This started as a hackathon project. But the loneliness part felt real enough that we kept building past it.

If you work remote, does this hit home for you too? Would love to hear what a good co-working session at someone's home would look like for you.

Who hunted SpaceShare?

SpaceShare was hunted by Zainab Shah. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
