I'm James. Former pro basketball player of 14 years mostly in Europe. Started teaching myself to code in 2021 while still playing. Retired from ball in December 2024.
I was lucky enough to accumulate friends from a bit of everywhere. And more than a few times I'd be in a city, check an Instagram story, and see that a friend was in town. Hit them up. They're leaving tomorrow. Or already gone.
So this is what I came up with. If friend groups used their calendars for things like travel and outings, I think we'd find more chances to hang. Use your calendar normally — SoKal does the rest. It notifies you when you're heading to the same city as a friend, when a friend is visiting your city, or when you're both going to the same place at different times.
And a bonus, host events right from your calendar, just invite people from your contacts, SoKal sends a notification to the friends already on SoKal, and a text with a link to RSVP to the rest.
