Sociano
App removing Reels and addictive content from social media
Sociano is different from normal blockers because it doesn’t just block social media completely. It removes the addictive parts — Reels, Shorts, Explore, feeds, For You pages, Spotlight/Discover — while keeping useful parts like DMs, posting, search, and content friends send you. It also has optional iPhone app blocking with Apple Screen Time APIs, so you can control both the browser experience and native apps.
I built Sociano because I had a weird problem: I wanted to stop scrolling, but I didn’t want to delete social media completely.
I still needed Instagram DMs, content friends sent me, posting, search, and some useful parts of the apps. But once I opened Instagram, I usually ended up in Reels.
Most blockers felt too extreme: either block the whole app, or allow the whole app and hope I don’t scroll.
So I built Sociano around a different idea: keep the useful parts, remove the loop.
It opens social platforms in a controlled browser where you can remove things like Reels, Shorts, Explore, feeds, For You pages, Spotlight/Discover, etc. There’s also optional native iPhone app blocking using Apple Screen Time APIs.
I’m an 18-year-old student and this is my first paid iOS app, so I’d genuinely love feedback from people who’ve struggled with the same problem.

Who hunted Sociano?
Sociano was hunted by Jan Macura. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
