Socials
Compete on your goals. Stay consistent together.
Most apps fail because you’re alone. No accountability, no consequence. Socials changes that. Create challenges, invite friends, and check in daily. Miss a day, lose your streak. Stay consistent, climb the leaderboard. Your progress is visible, competitive, and rewarded. Consistency is easier when you’re not alone.
Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Rishit, a solo developer who built Socials entirely from scratch as a portfolio project — and honestly, it became something I'm genuinely proud of.
The inspiration came from a frustration I kept running into personally. Every productivity app I tried felt isolating. I'd set a goal, open the app, fail quietly for a few days, and eventually stop opening it altogether. No one knew. No one held me accountable. The app just sat there.
I started asking myself — what actually makes people consistent? The research kept pointing to the same answer: accountability. People are dramatically more likely to follow through on a goal when someone else knows about it. That insight became the foundation of Socials.
The idea evolved a lot during development. It started as a simple challenge tracker — create a goal, invite friends, check in daily. But as I built it, I kept asking, "What would actually make someone come back tomorrow?" That question led to the leaderboard, then the streak system, then the gamification layer, and eventually the holographic profile card system with five rarity tiers that visually evolve based on your real in-app achievements.
The technical stack is React, Node.js, MongoDB, Socket.io, Framer Motion, and GSAP. Real-time chat is powered by Socket.io rooms per challenge. The rarity engine runs automatically whenever rewards are updated or profiles are fetched. The 3D profile card uses pointer tracking and CSS transforms to create a genuine holographic tilt effect.
Building this solo taught me more than any tutorial ever could — full-stack architecture, real-time systems, animation libraries, gamification design, and what it actually takes to ship something end-to-end.
I'd genuinely love your feedback. What features would make you actually use this daily? What's missing? What would make you share it with a friend? Every comment helps.

Who hunted Socials ?
Socials was hunted by Rishit .S. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
