Snifter
See every cocktail you can make with the bottles you own
Add your bottles by describing them in plain words or snapping your shelf — parsed on-device. Snifter instantly shows every classic you can make right now, plus which single bottle unlocks the most new drinks — that hint is free, not paywalled. 78 classics with exact, bartender-accurate measures. Works offline; your bottles and logs stay on your device, with no account. One-time $4.99 unlocks the AI input and your drink log — no subscription, no ads.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built Snifter because every cocktail app I tried answered the wrong question. They're all recipe encyclopedias: you search for a Negroni, and they tell you how to make a Negroni. But the actual question at 9pm on a Friday is the reverse — "I have these six bottles, now what?"
So Snifter starts from your shelf. You add what you own either by typing it in plain words ("Tanqueray, Campari, sweet vermouth, a bottle of Maker's Mark, limes") or by photographing the shelf. Then the Tonight tab lights up with everything you can actually make, right now, with what you have.
The part I'm most attached to is the "add one bottle" hint: it tells you which single bottle would unlock the most new drinks from your specific shelf. That one is free and front-and-center — it seemed backwards to put the most useful feature behind a paywall.
Some deliberate choices:
- 78 classics with exact, bartender-accurate measures, not a padded database of 5,000 variations.
- Works offline. Your bottles and logs stay on your device — no account, no cloud sync.
- One-time $4.99 unlock for the AI input and logging. No subscription, no ads.
It's a solo project and this is day one, so I'd genuinely like to hear where it falls short — especially if you keep a home bar and it misses bottles you'd expect it to know. I'll be here all day.
