Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I built SnapReceipt after watching a freelancer friend spend an entire Sunday before Self Assessment deadline digging through a shoebox of receipts. She'd lost half of them. The ones she found were faded. She ended up guessing.
That felt like a solved problem — but every app I found either charged after 10 scans, required an App Store install, or wasn't built with HMRC in mind. UK sole traders kept getting US-first tools with the VAT fields missing and none of the right expense categories.
So I built SnapReceipt: a PWA (no install needed), unlimited free scans, AI-powered VAT extraction, and expense categories aligned to the SA103 — the actual form HMRC wants you to fill in.
The approach evolved a lot. I started thinking it was a simple camera-to-spreadsheet tool. It became a full expense tracker with tax quarters, P&L, income logging, and Making Tax Digital readiness — because once freelancers started using it, that's what they actually needed.
It's still early and completely free. No paywalls, no scan limits, no catch.
