Hi Product Hunt — maker here.
I build live demos and screen-share a lot, and I kept hitting the same wall: Screen Studio-style smooth zoom and cursor polish simply doesn't exist for Windows. The options were (a) record first, polish later, or (b) wire up OBS plugins and still get jumpy camera moves.
SmoothCast is a background enhancement layer for Windows. You pick a screen; it samples your cursor and clicks at 60Hz and renders the camera move live — zoom starts within 100ms of a click and eases back to full screen after 3s of idle. Cursor is replaced with a smoothed, enlarged version with click ripples. There's focus dimming and background compositing too.
Output is the interesting part. It can feed Zoom/Teams/OBS as a virtual camera (SmoothCast Vcam, a DirectShow filter that ships with the app), show up windowed on the same screen, or take over a second monitor. Nothing is recorded or uploaded — frames never leave your machine, and there's no telemetry. It's an enhancement layer, so it stacks with whatever recorder you already use.
Honest limitations: Windows 10 21H2+ only (macOS is on the roadmap, no dates), SDR output, whole-screen capture (no per-window), and the installer is not code-signed yet — you'll see a SmartScreen prompt on first run (More info → Run anyway).
Free 24-hour full-feature trial, no account needed. Then $3.99/mo or $19.99/6 months, 7-day refund if you haven't really used it.
I'd love feedback on the zoom feel — the easing curves are tuned for demos, and I'm curious whether they read as "smooth" or "slow" on other people's setups.
