I'm Anis, the maker of SmartApplets — and I want to be upfront about why I built this.
I kept hitting the same wall: I'd need to merge a PDF, open iLovePDF or Smallpdf, and immediately get a 'you've hit your daily limit' or a watermark on my file. For something as basic as combining two documents, that felt wrong.
So I built SmartApplets — starting with the PDF tools I use most:
📄 Merge PDF — combine files, pick specific pages, unlock password-protected PDFs inline
✂️ Split PDF — extract pages, split by range, download as ZIP
🗜️ Compress PDF — five quality presets with before/after size comparison
The one rule I set from day one: **files never leave your device.** Everything runs 100% in the browser using pdf-lib and PDF.js. No uploads, no server, no data retention — ever. You can verify it yourself in Chrome DevTools → Network tab.
No sign-ups. No watermarks. No file size limits. No daily caps.
