Skymir mirrors your Google Drive folders to Linux with two-way sync, double-click Google Docs shortcuts, and a native GTK tray. Local saves upload within seconds; changes made in Drive arrive within about a minute. Deletes go to the trash on both sides, and a sync that would delete more than half your files is refused. $19 one-time, 14-day free trial, no subscription.
Hello Product Hunt! My name is David and I'm the solo developer of Skymir.
A quick note on why this exists: I switched to Linux recently, and my entire professional life lives in Google Workspace. Docs, Sheets, Slides, the works. The first wall I hit: Google never shipped a desktop Drive client for Linux like they did for Windows and Mac, so the only way to open a Google Doc was the web browser.
Earlier this year, a rclone bisync setup I'd built deleted 1,437 of my Google Docs - it treated the cloud-only Workspace files as missing. rclone is a great tool; it just wasn't the right one for keeping a working folder in sync. So, still new to Linux, I built the right one.
Skymir is a native GTK desktop app that mirrors selected Drive folders to local disk, handles Google Docs as clickable shortcuts, and runs in your system tray. It's a 19 MB download. Your saves reach Drive within seconds, changes from Drive arrive within about a minute, and deletes always go to the trash - never permanent. 14-day free trial with full features, no account or credit card required.
Two things I'd love feedback on today:
1. The landing page: does it make the app clear quickly or do you have to read through the whole site before you get it?
2. Features you'd need before switching from your current setup (rclone, Insync, web interface, etc.)
I am happy to answer any questions or receive any feedback. Thank you.

Who hunted Skymir?
Skymir was hunted by David Avellan. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
