Skill Health

Tells Claude when the skills it follows are wrong

Skill Health checks the instructions in the Claude Code skills you use against the current docs of the software they're about. At the start of every session, it tells Claude what's true instead, with a source link. It edits a skill only if you approve. A Claude Code plugin plus a macOS menu bar app (macOS 27). Free and open source (Apache 2.0). Early: tested on one person's skills so far.

Top comment

Hi, I'm Matthew. I wanted an "update all" button for my Claude Code skills, so I checked 12 of them against current docs first. All 12 already matched their GitHub repos, so updating would have changed nothing, and 10 still told Claude something wrong. That's why Skill Health checks the instructions themselves. How it works: you run a check on the skills you use, it compares each instruction with the current docs, and at the start of every Claude Code session Claude is told what's true instead, with a source link. It edits a skill only if you approve. Who it's for: anyone who uses Claude Code with installed skills. Good to know: it's free and open source (Apache 2.0). It needs macOS 27 and Claude Code. The plugin works on its own, and the menu bar app is optional and built from source for now. It's early, and I've only tested it on my own skills. Feedback I'd love: any instruction it flags that you think is actually fine, and what you'd want it to check next.
