Top comment

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built Sigilla to feed my own interest in understanding the arts and philosophy. Most symbol references I came across do one of two things: give you a one-line definition, or present one interpretation as the definitive meaning. But symbols do not stay still. An eye, cross, knot, wheel, serpent, or circle can gather very different meanings as it moves between places, traditions, and centuries. I wanted a reference that preserves that context without turning the experience into an academic database. Sigilla is a quiet lexicon of marks. For each symbol, you can explore: - where it comes from - what its name originally meant - how different traditions have read it - nearby symbols and thematic paths worth following - your own private notes and saved shelf, stored only in your browser The first cabinet contains 51 marks spanning Egyptian, Hermetic, alchemical, astrological, Indic, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Norse, Hellenic, Celtic, East Asian, geometric, and modern traditions. You can also add a mark of your own. It remains on your device—the shared canon stays untouched. I’d especially love feedback on three things: 1. Which symbol should be added next? 2. Does each entry strike the right balance between clarity and nuance? 3. What would make browsing the connections between symbols more useful? Thanks for exploring the cabinet. ◎
