I’m Barat, the maker of shrl.io.
I built this because I was tired of giving third-party URL shorteners full visibility into every click — and most self-hosted alternatives either lacked solid analytics or felt heavy to run.
shrl.io is a privacy-first, high-performance, self-hosted URL shortener + traffic analyzer:
- 🔒 Your data stays on your servers — visitor IPs are never stored
- ⚡ Sub-millisecond redirects (Redis-backed, database never on the hot path)
- 📊 Rich analytics: visits, unique visitors, time series, referrers, devices, browsers, geo, and all 6 UTM parameters
- 👥 Built-in teams, invite codes, admin UI, API keys, QR codes
- 🏠 One podman/docker compose up -d and you’re running the full stack
It’s open source and still pre-1.0, so feedback from people who actually self-host link tools is especially welcome.
