Hey Product Hunt. I'm Mike, I built ShoutFlow. It's a dictation app for Mac. You hold one shortcut, talk like you're thinking out loud, and clean text lands at your cursor in whatever app you're in. Mail, Claude Code, Slack, Notes, wherever. Why I built it: the first version was actually a Windows app back in February. Rough, but it worked. Then about four months ago I bought a Mac, and the whole thing got much easier to build and much better to use. WhisperKit, Whisper optimised for Apple Silicon, runs on your Mac, fast, with nothing sent anywhere. That's when it stopped being a side experiment and became a real product. It also made me ask why anyone pays $10 to $15 a month for dictation. The subscription apps are renting you're own voice out, now sits on your own machine. So ShoutFlow is local first. Transcription runs on-device. Text cleanup can too. If you want a frontier model for cleanup, bring your own key and the request goes straight from your Mac to your provider. Your audio and text never pass through my servers. They can't. The architecture doesn't include me. It's $25, once. No subscription. There's a 7 day trial, no account, no card. What I'd love feedback on: how it feels on your Mac (it's Apple Silicon, macOS 14+), where the rough edges are, and whether pay-once software is something you'd actually choose over a subscription if the product is good enough. I'm around all day
