ShoulderSurf
Privacy screen, powered by your webcam
ShoulderSurf watches your front camera for a second pair of eyes and blurs your screen the moment someone looks over your shoulder. On device, no account, nothing uploaded.
I built Shoulder Surf because I wanted an AI assistant that could actually help during conversations, not just summarize them afterwards.
Whether you’re in a meeting, interview, sales call, presentation, or having an important conversation, Shoulder Surf listens in real time, understands what’s being said, and gives you useful AI assistance when you need it.
I also wanted privacy and flexibility to be built into the product from day one. That’s why Shoulder Surf supports on-device processing and lets you bring your own AI provider or API key.
Building this has been a journey of figuring out how to make AI genuinely useful in the moment, rather than another tool you have to think about after the conversation.

Who hunted ShoulderSurf?
ShoulderSurf was hunted by Daniel Mac Sweeney. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
