Shelf

Keep AI-built tools alive and launch them, share with agents

Shelf is a free, open-source macOS app for people who build with AI. Drop a project folder — Shelf figures out how it runs, remembers it, and launches it in one click. Connect Claude, Cursor, or Codex and they can see the same library over MCP: find a tool, launch it, check logs. New in 1.0: design profiles so agents build with your branding without you pasting hex codes. Local-first. No account. MIT.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I’m Carlos. Shelf started because I was drowning in half-finished tools I’d built with AI and then forgotten how to run. The idea is simple: 1. Drop a folder onto Shelf 2. It becomes a card you can launch anytime 3. Your AI agents get the same shelf over MCP — so “launch my image prepper” actually works v1.0 just shipped with Design Engine: local brand profiles (colors, type, voice) that agents can pull when you say “build it with my branding.” Drafts only — agents never silently change your default. Free, open source, Apple Silicon only for now. Download: https://shelfmcp.com GitHub: https://github.com/ai-ventures-h... Would love blunt feedback — especially from folks using Claude Code / Cursor daily. What’s broken or confusing?

Who hunted Shelf?

Shelf was hunted by Carlos Montalvo. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
