Hi everyone, I'm Dmytro - I built Sharply.
The gap I kept seeing: practice tests give you an answer key, but they can't tell you why your writing is a 6 and not a 7. For that you need a tutor, which is £30+/hour, and most candidates can't afford that often enough for it to change anything.
Sharply scores every answer against the official band descriptors and says what's holding the band down — the specific coherence break, the vocabulary range, the pronunciation features. All four skills, including speaking with real recorded audio.

What changed while building it: I assumed the thing people needed was more practice material. It wasn't — the question bank was never the constraint. What they wanted was to know where they actually stand and what to fix next, so most of the recent work has gone into feedback quality rather than adding content.
I'd really like feedback from anyone who's sat IELTS recently: does the band we give you match what you actually got? That comparison is the most useful thing anyone can tell me right now.
