I need to fix this site. Everyone has shared all of these folders. We've stopped that but there are 45,000 folders and my client wants to know who has permission to what. More importantly she has hired an admin who should "have permission to whatever I have permission too". And its all a trap, every time I turn around someone has more permissions than they should or, just as bad, no permissions to something that is due EOD. I can't afford $10k for ShareGate, or $25k for for some of these enterprise tools to help with permissions. I just need a hand. Just a few things to get this off of my list and make it someone else's job. But despite my not being the one who got us into this mess, apparently I'm the one who has to clean it up, So I did. I built a product to create new greenfield sites that are organized around now and in the future. I ran analysis' proving we don't need all of thsi data -- and in fact it was putting us at risk. I created a system that reviewed all of the users splattered all over these folders, found out it wasn't as bad as I thought (a few hundred versus thousands) and the system not only recommends these groups for these folders for these user accounts, but I click GO and it does it -- creates groups, assigns the groups to the folders, the users to the groups, double checks everything is good and then it removes the users from the folders. Done and Done Right. Phew. Now on to the next IT mountain to climb.
