SeatSort
Seating charts in five minutes, with rules that hold
Paste a list of names, draw the room and say who must sit together or apart. SeatSort assigns every seat and keeps the rules when you reshuffle. Weddings, events and classrooms, in English and German. Free to build, no account; pay only to print or share.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built SeatSort because seating charts still get made with sticky notes and a spreadsheet, over several evenings, and one RSVP change undoes half of it.
The idea is that you shouldn't place 120 people by hand. You:
1. Paste or upload your list (one name per line, or a CSV) and group households.
2. Lay out the room with round or long tables, or rows and pairs for a classroom.
3. Add the rules that matter: keep these two apart, keep this family together.
SeatSort fills every seat and keeps the rules when you shuffle. You get a PDF by table and an alphabetical list for the entrance. For events, a QR link lets each guest look up their own seat on their phone.
The same editor works for classrooms: reshuffle a class each term without putting the two talkers together again.
Building and auto-assigning are free, with no sign-up. You pay only to export without a watermark or to share: one event at $9, or $3.99/month for teachers.
I'd love feedback, especially from anyone who has planned a wedding or run a classroom recently: what made seating painful for you?

Who hunted SeatSort?
SeatSort was hunted by Federico Caccia. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
