We built Scrolly because we saw a real, personal problem many of us struggle with every day: the endless scroll. Phones and social apps aren’t just distractions - they’re designed to overstimulate our brain’s dopamine system, keeping us constantly seeking more content without real satisfaction. Over time, this “wanting without completion” quietly drains focus, presence, and enjoyment of everyday life. That’s where “Stop Scrolling. Start Living.” comes from. It’s not just a motto for us - it’s the reason Scrolly exists. We genuinely want to help people regain control of their attention and spend more time on what actually matters to them. Most screen-time tools and app blockers are easy to bypass. We wanted something that actually works in real life. That led us to a physical approach: a simple device paired with an app that creates a real barrier. When your phone is in focus mode, distracting apps are blocked until you intentionally choose to unlock them by tapping Scrolly to your phone again, making mindless scrolling much harder - especially for kids. Our process evolved through constant iteration and feedback. Early on, we realized the solution had to be more than software. It needed to be easy to use, difficult to work around, and supportive rather than punishing. That insight shaped Scrolly into a physical habit-building companion designed for families, parents, and anyone who wants a healthier relationship with their phone.

Who hunted Scrolly?

Scrolly was hunted by Dominik Uchnast. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
