ScreenKatta
Your movie diary, OTT guide and theatre plans in one place
ScreenKatta is a social platform for films and series. Log what you watch, share your verdict, keep a watchlist, see when films reach OTT, and follow friends.
"Katta" is Marathi for the spot where friends hang out and talk. At ours, the talk is mostly about films: what's worth watching, where it's streaming, and when we're all going to the theatre.
The conversation was spread across five apps. One app for tracking what I watched, another to check which OTT service has a film, BookMyShow for showtimes, and a WhatsApp group where plans died somewhere between "which show?" and "who owes whom?". The apps built for film lovers also treat Indian cinema as an afterthought.
What I built:
- Log and review films and series, and follow friends to see what they're watching
- See where anything streams in India, what's coming to OTT soon, and theatre releases, with reminders on release day
- Katta Plans: vote on a show with friends, upload the tickets, and the site reads the seats and total and splits the cost per person
- Magic search: type a dialogue or describe a scene and it finds the film
- Emoji Katta, a daily game where you guess the film from emojis
- Lists, collections and a Letterboxd import
