Screen Shelf
Your visual shelf for everything.
ScreenShelf stands out by acting as a simple visual “in-between” space for the things you’re actively working with, instead of trying to replace Finder or a clipboard manager. You can drop in files, folders, screenshots, links, apps, text snippets, and more. It also includes customization features like multiple view styles, custom item colors, keyboard shortcuts, Always on Top, and Option-drag to remove items after dragging them out.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built ScreenShelf because my Mac desktop kept turning into a temporary dumping ground while I worked. Screenshots, files, links, folders, apps, text snippets — I was constantly dragging things around, keeping extra Finder windows open, or losing track of stuff I only needed for a little while. ScreenShelf is my attempt to solve the messy middle of working. It gives you a small visual shelf where you can drop the things you’re actively using, keep them within reach, and drag them back out when needed. The app supports files, folders, screenshots, links, apps, text snippets, and more. It also includes multiple view styles, custom item colors, keyboard shortcuts, Always on Top, improved drag and drop, and Option-drag to remove items after dragging them out. I’m keeping ScreenShelf free forever and improving it based on real feedback. I’d love to know: how do you currently handle temporary files, screenshots, links, and snippets while working on your Mac?
