Scout by LayeredGeo
Flood, zoning and elevation on Australian property listings
Scout is a Chrome extension for Australian home buyers. It adds a badge to each realestate.com.au listing showing council flood risk, flood history, elevation, zoning, heritage and bushfire flags. The mapping is public but spread across separate state and council portals, so most buyers never check it before an inspection. Scout reads the address and shows it on the listing. Covers Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Free to install with a 5-day trial, then $15 a month.
Hi, I'm Ryan from LayeredGeo in Brisbane.
In Australia the flood, zoning and bushfire mapping for a property is public, but it sits in separate state and council portals, so most buyers only look once they are already attached to a house. Scout puts the answer on the listing itself. It reads the address on each realestate.com.au listing and adds a small badge with council flood risk and flood history, how high the lot sits, zoning, heritage and bushfire flags.
It covers Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria today, so it is only useful if you are looking at property there. Install is free with a full trial for your first 5 days of browsing and no card. After that, elevation stays free and the full badge is $15 a month.
I would like to hear what you would want on the badge that is not there, and which listing sites you would want it on next.
