School Scoop

School newsletters, made useful for busy parents.

Most school comms tools are built for schools to send more information. School Scoop is built for parents to absorb less. It reads public school newsletters and turns them into a digest, key dates, year-level updates, and Smart Calendar. The difference is no email forwarding, an engine that is built on 1000s of newsltters with solid feedback from users.

Hi Im Joel, the maker of School Scoop. I originally built it to help parents at my kids school, and I had 1/4 of the school sign up. Got lots of feedback and I thought other school parents could use it too. Added some much asked for features and now have approx 150 users. What does it do? School Scoop reads a school’s public newsletter and turns it into something parents can actually use, a snapshot, key dates, and general school updates. Premium adds Need to Know (what do I need to know about quickly for my family), Year-level News, and Smart Calendar, email reminders, which pulls school dates into your calendar. It's a simple sign up and no fancy dashboards - and NO email forwarding like 20 other similiar apps do. The product changed a lot while building it. The tough bit was the summarization engine, i'e tweaked this over the last 8 months against 1000s of newsltters. And then the next challenge was getting all the data. So I have approx 5000 schools active on it (ready with public newsltter links). I’d love feedback from parents, school staff, and anyone building in education.
