ScholarXIV Papers API
Search 3 million+ research papers with a single API call
ScholarXIV Papers API let's you search over 3 million research papers through a single API endpoint. Filter by title, author, category, abstract, or date. Get clean, structured metadata containing titles, authors, abstracts, categories, PDF links and more without parsing XML or rate-limiting yourself. Free tier is included. Try it out in the playground!
Hey ProductHunt! 👋 I'm the maker behind ScholarXIV.
The Papers API exists because the official arXiv API has aggressive rate limits and returns only XML. Every time we wanted to feed papers into an AI feature — recommendations, summaries, or the pulse generator — we hit a wall. Ingesting 3M+ papers at scale simply wasn't working well with the upstream constraints.
So we built our own index and opened it up as a clean REST API.
What you get:
• Simple search — query by keyword or title
• Advanced search — filter by author, category, abstract, date, journal, report number, or arXiv ID
• Clean JSON Response — includes titles, authors, abstracts, categories, PDF links, DOIs, and more
• API key management — sign up, create a key, track usage and more
• Free tier — no credit card required
You can test it live in the playground without writing any code.
