I'm JOYAPPLE, the maker of SayIn. Let me tell you why I built it.
**The problem**
I use a Mac Mini as my main machine. It's powerful, but it has no microphone. No built-in way to dictate text or do voice input.
Sure, I could buy a USB mic — but they're bulky, expensive, and I don't always have one with me. I could type on my phone and copy-paste over — but that's 3+ extra steps for every sentence. It just felt silly. My phone already has a great mic and keyboard. Why can't it just be my computer's input method?
**What SayIn does**
SayIn turns your phone into your computer's input pad:
- 📱 **Zero install on phone** — just open a URL in the browser, no app needed
- 🔌 **Pure LAN WebSocket** — phone and computer connect directly over WiFi, no third-party servers, no data leaves your network
- ⚡ **One command to start** — `npm start` and you're running, one dependency, super lightweight
- ⌨️ **Auto-paste at cursor** — on macOS, text lands right where your cursor is; works on Windows too with copy-paste
**The surprise use case: Vibe Coding** 🎙️→💻
I built this for the "no mic on Mac Mini" problem. But the biggest surprise was how perfect it is for vibe coding with AI.
There are dedicated vibe coding hardware products out there, but many are still conceptual or pricey. Your phone is already the best vibe coding accessory you own — it has a great mic, it's always with you, and you already know how to use it. SayIn just bridges the gap.
Dictate your requirement into your phone, and the text drops straight into Trae / Cursor / Claude. No keyboard needed.
**It's open source**
SayIn is free and open source under Apache-2.0. No account, no cloud, no subscription — just a small tool that solves a small but annoying problem.
**What's next?**
I'm working on better Windows support (auto-paste via accessibility), a history search feature, and maybe a Linux version. Would love your input on what matters most.
