I built the SAM.gov Contractor Database Compiler after working with the official SAM.gov public bulk dataset and realising how much effort it takes to turn the raw files into something practical for research.
SAM.gov makes an enormous amount of valuable contractor information publicly available, but working with the bulk dataset usually means writing scripts, importing the data into a database, or relying on APIs and third-party platforms.
I wanted to make that process much simpler.
The compiler works locally and lets users filter the public dataset by things like NAICS code, registration status, state/country, CAGE availability, small-business status, SBA classifications, PSC and website availability, then export the results to Excel or CSV.
There is no API dependency and no recurring subscription. The product includes both a standalone Windows EXE and a Python/BAT version for users who prefer a more technical workflow.
My goal was to make the SAM.gov bulk data genuinely usable for GovCon researchers, proposal teams, consultants, analysts and developers without requiring them to build their own processing pipeline first.
I’d really appreciate feedback from anyone working with SAM.gov or government-contracting data. In particular, I’d love to know which additional filters, exports or research workflows would make the tool more useful.
