Before Sagalino I spent years analysing screenplays for feature films. I can't draw at all, but I love digital products and I wanted to see whether the two together could make a bedtime story good enough to read aloud more than once.
You describe the main character (your child, Grandma, the dog or something you just made up), pick a style, and Sagalino writes the story and paints it. It's built with AI, and most of my time went into the things AI doesn't do well on its own:
1. Keeping characters recognisable. Every character gets a sheet before the first picture, and all 14 double pages are painted from it.
2. A story that holds together. Before each page we settle who stands where and which objects from earlier pages have to come back.
3. Text pages that feel like part of the book. The text sits on a surface painted in the same world as the scene beside it.
The thing I care about most: you read the whole story and see your characters and the cover before paying anything. If it doesn't feel right, you simply close the page. Also: Photos are optional. If you'd rather not upload a picture of your child, a short description is enough.
