I built Runnable after realizing that changing where GitHub Actions jobs run doesn’t remove the Actions scheduler as a dependency. If that control plane is delayed or unavailable, a faster runner can’t help.
Runnable takes a different approach: it reads familiar Actions-compatible workflows, but plans, schedules, executes, logs, caches, and stores artifacts independently. GitHub or Entire remains your source of truth, while every job runs on a clean, single-use Linux machine.
The hardest part wasn’t simply supporting workflow syntax. It was making the compatibility boundary honest. That led us to build a free, no-signup checker that identifies unsupported behavior before migration and generates the files needed for a safe parallel pilot.
For GitHub-backed repositories, Runnable isolates the Actions scheduler and runner control plane. It doesn’t pretend to eliminate dependencies on GitHub’s source, authentication, or API infrastructure.
