Rowpilot
The AI SQL editor for local and remote files and databases
Rowpilot is an AI-powered desktop SQL editor for exploring, querying, and managing local and remote files and databases. Connect your favourite AI agent to your data using external MCP or internal chat with built in support for Claude, Codex, Cursor, API and local agents. Guardrails in place to protect you and your agent from accidentally breaking the database. Schema aware autocomplee, linting and support for all major database systems. Query files like CSV, Parqut and Excel using SQL!
I built Rowpilot for various reasons - being frustrated over the years with the lack of support or guardrails available in conventional DB management tools. With data growing more and more outside the standard databases and into data lakes, I was missing the ability to properly analyze and debug the data living in cloud storages.
Rowpilot solves all of my everyday database management and analytical needs. I can manage the data, solve support cases, analyze KPIs for management, and much more.
On top of the standard SQL editor features like schema introspection, autocomplete, linting and result set navigation, I have added the power of AI agents. I decided to integrate major code-oriented agents like Claude, Codex and Cursor, with support for local or remote API providers too. To bridge the gap between the internal chat abilities and the growing adoption of CLI agent tools, I have also built in an external MCP to connect any AI you need with your data.
Security was the first thing on my mind — all private data is stored in the OS keychain and everything is local only. You decide what actions AI agents can take and what data they can access.
The real reason for building this app, in the end, is the need for something more than what existed before. My favourite feature is the "Guard mode", where Rowpilot gives me a transaction for review before committing. I wish this had existed sooner!
You can use the editor with or without AI - completely up to you.
Hope you try it out and let me know if you like it!
Happy querying - Mike
