Hey there!
I'm Pablo (or hawkyre online) and I'm the founder of Root.
This little project comes from my love of languages ever since I was young, learning some Japanese in English class at school (and getting scolded for it) and many others up until now (I've been learning Dutch now for 4 months and I've exclusively used Youtube and Root for it). Needless to say, I've been learning new languages pretty much all my life and I love it.
The idea for Root comes from me wanting to create the next-generation vocabulary tracker, since I think many, many technologies could be applied to language learning that have yet not been explored and I would love to put my grain of sand in this world I love.
As of now, Root has:
- 📜 A great, filterable and easily editable table to track all your words
- 🎴 Flashcards to practice all your vocabulary
- 🎮 Wordmaps and Smart Quizzes, our own little practice games (check them out in the website!)
- 📊 A pretty cool stats panel
- 💭 The ability to generate new words for your deck via a prompt
- 🤖 AI-based example generation
- 🔴 Recording AND editing audio in the website (AI-generated audio will come very, very soon)
- 📱A mobile version of the website that can be installed as a web app in your phone
- 🧑💼A B2B course section where you'll be able to find your favorite language courses soon and import their vocabulary directly into your deck
- 🤪And some more goodies that I'll let you find in the app :)
And the list is growing very fast! I have a lot of ideas but I'm still a solo dev with a double university degree to finish, so things go as fast as I can. Regardless, I think the trajectory is right and it's just a matter of time.
